Alfresco Projects are increasing in popularity today, with people using their backyards as an extension of the home. It is a wonderful way to get together casually with family and friends and it is often less expensive and more relaxed than going out to a restaurant.
Your alfresco space can be made to measure any size, just enough to fit a table and some chairs and perhaps the essential Aussie backyard element, the barbecue. It might be a balcony with doors that fold back for a seamless transition from indoors to outdoors or you may have something ambitious in mind such as an outdoor kitchen off the living room complete with sink and fridge. You can spend as little or as much as you like on creating your alfresco area.
If you plan to entertain in the evening, lighting will play a big part in your outdoor living area. A good selection of lights will create a great atmosphere and can be used to highlight features outdoors. There’s no need to spend lots of money, simple outdoor candles and garden torches create lovely soft light in the garden.
